This initial health strategy that I’m launching from MattinglyMD.com is unusual in that seldom do we have the opportunity to do something for our health that takes so little effort, so little time, costs less than twenty cents a day and has such unbelievable health benefits with very little risk.
Vitamin D3 is that super-strategy.
Because we’re living in the 21st century with caveman genetic engineering – we don’t get the sunlight and the resultant Vitamin D we need.
The long and the short of it is . . . taking one small pill a day – 5000 units of Vitamin D3 will lower blood pressure, help prevent cancer, build bone, reduce back pain, lower our blood sugar, make us more resistant to auto-immune disease, make us less likely to have a heart attack; it will help elders keep from falling – it even makes our brain work faster.
And what is everyone worried about these days – the flu ? Vitamin D muscles up the cells in our immune system increasing our ability to ward off all infections.
Is there a downside to taking Vitamin D ?
The downside risk is very very small but important if you have tuberculosis, sarcoidosis, or any other granulomatous disease. In those instances, Vitamin D could raise your calcium level. But it’s estimated that here in the United States that far less than 1% of us could be affected.
In a perfect world, we all would get a serum level of Vitamin D and then begin supplementing, shooting for a level of 50 to 80ng/ml all the while monitoring serum calcium levels. Everyone’s body responds differently to vitamins, supplements, in fact all medications. I’ve seen that time and time again as an anesthesiologist injecting thousands of patients with various drugs.
But the beauty of Vitamin D3 is that in over a dozen studies no toxicity has been demonstrated in doses of less than 30,000 units/day.
I’m hoping you do get a blood level. In fact, at the resource I’m suggesting, a blood test kit is available. But in the meantime because it’s so safe and there’s so much benefit, I’m recommending you take 5,000 units/day.
