Thanks for clicking in and hanging out.
You may wonder why I’ve chosen Willingness as one of the fundamental topics on the button bar of MattinglyMD.com, Your Health and Energy Source.
If MattinglyMD.com’s mission is to give you tools so that YOU can give YOURSELF better health and More energy, willingness is critical. No matter how many health or lifestyle strategies I suggest you consider, . . . if you don’t follow through, you won’t harvest the benefits.
I enjoy seeking out the most successful methodologies in every area of interest whether it be physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual health, lifestyle issues, or business concerns.
Early on, I realized that I didn’t have to re-invent the wheel, . . that smarter minds than me had figured out what works to realize a particular vision.
Recipes for success are everywhere. But we all know where the rubber meets the road is taking those recipes and putting them into practice.
How many times have you bought a supplement and seen it languish on your shelf. you end up throwing it out after it expires, disgusted with yourself.
Or maybe you’ve bought that piece of exercise equipment. . . As it collects dust, it stares at you, haunting you with guilt.
I can’t tell you how many times in my life, I’ve known EXACTLY what I needed to do but could not, . . . to the extent required, . . . diligently, . . . day-in, day-out, . . . crank up the motivation and energy to get it done.
I’ve gotten so frustrated and discouraged with myself – wondering WHAT is WRONG with me.
But then I took to heart a fundamental spiritual principle I found in recovery - Willingness. I’ve discovered that simply ASKING FOR willingness, . . . when I wake up in the morning, when I am huffing and puffing with each breath on the elliptical, sometimes with each step that I take, . . . works.
It’s strange but slowly, surely, the morass of inertia which is my bailiwick. . . Which keeps me stuck, seems to fade almost like magic, without this grunting and groaning or flogging myself to get moving. The result is I get more things done – more easily.
There it is.
Whether you want to exercise, or eat better, or take the supplements you bought with such well-meaning intent. Or act like a better husband, or better father, or better employee or better employer or better citizen. Or maybe you just want to act like the person you’re called to be, it will just begin to happen.
Hey, and by the way, if you do any of the above you’ll be healthier and have more energy.
ASK for willingness. SEE what happens.
